HeraldInchicore to host futsal showcaseTuesday June 17 2008FUTSAL has been on the Irish football radar in recent years with an eircom League competition, an Irish side playing in the UEFA Futsal Cup and an international team at U-21 level.
The official FIFA version of five-a-side football continues to grow in popularity, with leagues and competitions springing up across the country.
Clubs and players interested in playing the game in Dublin will get another chance to see it in action tomorrow when a futsal blitz will take place in St Michael's Hall, Inchicore (7pm-10pm).
The tournament is a pre-cursor to a league which will be run out of the same venue during July and August.
A number of specialist futsal teams will be participating, including a representative of the SARI league, while Crumlin United, Glenmore Celtic and Liffeys Pearse will also be competing.
Anybody interested in observing is welcome to attend the tournament, which is being run in conjunction with the FAI, Futsal Ireland and Nighthawks.
