Enfield IndependentFC Enfield claim national titleFC ENFIELD claimed victory in the final of the FA Umbro Under-14 National Futsal Trophy.
They saw off London rivals Brentford 2-0 to lift the trophy at the English Institute of Sport, in Sheffield.
Enfield claimed a 2-1 win over Newent in their opening group game, before drawing 1-1 with Ripley and taking a close-fought match against Futsal Yorkshire 2-1 to qualify for the knockout stages.
In the quarter-finals Enfield played in the main arena in front of a 200 crowd, which included Sir Trevor Brooking, an FA director of football, and Dermot Collins, the FA national manager for small sided football.
And they certainly impressed, thumping West Drayton Tigers 5-0 before beating Lindsey School 1-0 in the semi-finals.
That set up a final against Brentford, and Enfield started well, putting their west London rivals on the defensive.
And they eventually ran out 2-0 winners thanks to two well-taken goals.
FC Enfield secretary Rob Brassett said afterwards: "These boys have shown that hard work pays off. They have matured into a good side and well behaved on and off the pitch.
"It's a great achievement to be the best in the country."
