RM1mil up for grabs in futsal tourney

PETALING JAYA: More than RM1mil in cash will be up for grabs in the inaugural HTO Futsal League, which will kick off at the HTO de Futsal in Subang Jaya on Saturday.

The 18-leg league will be held every fortnightly, with the winners of each leg pocketing a whopping RM50,000 in cash. The runners-up will get RM5,000 while the third- and fourth-placed teams will receive RM1,000 each.

Organising chairman Mohd Khairul Anam Llias said there would also be a grand final featuring winners of the 18 legs.

“We have introduced a winners-take-all concept,” said Mohd Khairul.

A total of 64 teams, including professional outfits from Thailand, Singapore and Indonesia, have registered for the inaugural series.

“Our aim is to raise the standard of our local players. We hope that the lucrative prize money offered would inspire them to excel in this sport,” said Mohd Khairul.

The tournament, sanctioned by the FA of Malaysia, is organised by HTO Resources Sdn Bhd. Those keen to compete in the second-leg of the HTO Futsal League can contact 03-56387355 or 03-56388355 for more information.
