UEFA.comShayakhmetov defects to DinamoMonday 4 August 2008MFK Dinamo Moskva have signalled their attempt to reclaim the UEFA Futsal Cup from MFK Viz-Sinara Ekaterinburg by signing Vladislav Shayakhmetov from their Russian rivals.
Five-year dealShayakhmetov, 27, has signed a five-year contract ahead of the new Russian season that begins on 17 August. While Dinamo won their sixth consecutive Russian title last season, in April they lost their grip on the European trophy by losing on penalties in the semi-finals to ElPozo Murcia FS – themselves then defeated by the same method against Ekaterinburg. Shayakhmetov played a crucial role in that victory and will also be a key part of Russia's FIFA Futsal World Cup side in Brazil, having been capped 49 times.
European bid"I thought for a long time about this," Shayakhmetov told Dinamo's official website. "I moved to play for the best team in Europe with the best players who keep themselves in good shape. There are many Brazilians. I have something to learn from them. Maybe, I have something to teach them." Both Dinamo and Ekaterinburg will enter the UEFA Futsal Cup in November's Elite round and will discover their opposition when the draw is made on 25 September.
