Cuban Umpire to Work on Futsal World Championships

CAMAGUEY , Cuba , Aug 7 (acn) Cuban futsal judge Antonio Alvarez Betancourt will work at the World Championships next November (Futsalplanet note: September), second time a Cuban is appointed to this kind of tournament.

Alvarez, 40, holds the top evaluation of the CONCACAF and was chosen the best judge at Guatemala’s pre-Olympic tournament, a distintion taken into account to choose him for this tournament.

Adelante newspaper´s website reports that Alvaerez has been a judge for 16 years, and has acted in several international events.

These world championships will start on August 19 ((Futsalplanet note: September 30). the other Cuban who acted as judge in this kind of tournament was Vladimir Maso Goitisolo in Taipei 2007 (Futsalplanet note: Chinese Taipei 2004).
