UEFA.comNo bother for BeverwijkFriday 15 August 2008Dutch champions Carillon Boys Beverwijk cruised into the UEFA Futsal Cup Main round with a 14-0 defeat of FC Betoon Tallinn.
Comfortable winIn Preliminary round Group F, which was reduced to three teams by the late withdrawal of MNK Orliæ Sarajevo, Beverwijk had gained an opening 10-2 win against German hosts Münster, who then went on to beat Betoon 3-1. The Estonian side needed a six-goal win today to top Beverwijk but were losing by that margin within eight minutes and by the end Zaid El Morabiti, Samir Makhoukhi and Omar Nejjari had all scored hat-tricks. Makhoukhi ended the mini-tournament with a tally of seven goals.
Main round testBeverwijk now progress to Main round Group 4 against 2006 semi-finalists FC Shakhtar Donetsk, Croatia's HMNK Gospiæ and Hungarian hosts MVFC Berettyóújfalu, to be played in early September. Lithuania's Nautara Kaunas, French champions Roubaix Futsal, Bulgaria's FC Nadin Sofia and Latvian team FK Nikars Riga have also made progress to the Main round, where 18 sides are automatically entered. One berth remains from Preliminary round Group E in Helsinki, which continues on Saturday and Sunday.
