THE FOURTH week of the Guam Football Association Men’s Futsal League commenced this past Saturday with a series of matches held at the Guam Sports Complex in Harmon. In the first game of the evening held at 5 p.m., the Crushers Orange took on their club mate Crushers White.
Less than two minutes into the match, Eliseo Zamarron beamed the ball off the hands of Crushers White goalkeeper Ryan “Shippy” Shipman for the 1-0 lead. Although the fast paced game catered to both squads, the Crushers Orange had better luck on the offensive end as Zamarron scored his second goal in the 18th minute to give his team the two-goal lead over Crushers White.
Less than a minute later, Jon Carl Peterson scored his team’s first goal as they continued to trail the Orange squad by one goal. Orange Crusher Aaron Jackson responded with a goal in the 15th and 11th minute that stretched his team’s lead over the White squad to three goals, 4-1.
With less than nine minutes left in the first half, Peterson scored another goal for the White Crushers to cut their opponents lead down to two scores. Riding an entire half of efficient offense and defense, the Orange Crushers’ Kevin Knaeble scorched the net with goals in the seventh and fifth minute as his team led the Crushers White by four goals at the half, 6-2.
Moments into the second half, Jesus Leon Guerrero scored his first goal of the game that pulled his team within three scores of the Crushers Orange. Roughly 28 seconds later, Ervin Martinez kicked the ball into the Crushers White goal to give his Crushers Orange the 7-3 advantage.
In a match full of offense, Leon Guerrero answered back as he scored his second goal in the 21st minute; however, his Crushers White squad still trailed, 7-4.
Through the final 17 minutes of the match, the Orange Crushers’ Kevin Cruz, Zamarron and Jackson scored a goal a piece to seal their team’s victory over the Crushers White, 10-4. Both Zamarron and Jackson completed a hat trick in their team’s victory, while Knaeble chipped in two goals. In the loss, the White Crushers’ Leon Guerrero and Peterson each scored two goals.
GFA Men’s Futsal League will hold regular season action tomorrow evening beginning at 6:15 p.m. at the Agat Gymnasium.
