Quality forward David Manibusan scored a hat trick in the first five minutes of the game. The beating commenced from that point on in against Community First Deyo at the Astumbo Gymnasium during Guam Football Association Men’s Futsal League end of season play last night.
Using teamwork, the most important strategy in any team sport, the Quality team’s offensive was unstoppable. Quality’s Alan Jamison and Tao Jin would add a goal apiece before the half ended, 5-2. On several goal shots by Deyo, Quality goal keeper Jimmy Bush did well holding Deyo to just two goals from Cheyne Robles and Paul Alger. He showed Deyo that his 6’+, 200+ lb. body was a stopping force at the net, and that he was in fact acrobatic by making some flashy diving and leaping saves that had Deyo players frustrated going into the half.
Things didn’t change much in the second. Manibusan added two more goals and his teammates added four more. Bush shut out the Deyo team and business was closed for the night with Quality taking a dominating 11-2 victory.
The win boosts Quality (6-1-0) from their previous third place spot into second place, knocking down the Crushers Orange into third place. Meanwhile, Deyo (1-6-0), with another loss stays in 7th place, just one win ahead of the winless wonders in the Islanders.
Speaking of those winless wonders, they almost got a win in the first game last night. But their opponents, Crushers White, had other plans. The game was tied at 1-1 with only minutes remaining, and that’s when Crushers A.Arim Albajal and Joseph Ichull scored within minutes of each other to deflate any hopes that the Islanders had of winning a game this season. The final score was 3-1, in favor of the Crushers White.
The Islanders (0-7-0) take last place (8th), and the Crushers White (2-5-0) finish in 6th.
The top four teams in the league begin semi-finals play this Saturday at the Guam Sports Complex beginning at 6 p.m.
