Welcome 51st National Day on the futsal courts

TEAMS keen to participate in the Petaling Jaya Merdeka Unity Futsal carnival at the PJ Hockey Stadium on Aug 30 and 31 can register at the counter at the stadium.

Organising secretary Nik Muhd Radzi said they have set up a counter at the venue for the convenience of interested teams.

“The counter will be open until 6pm tomorrow. After that we will conduct the draw for the four categories. We have received a lot of enquiries and 200 teams have already signed for the carnival. We have another 40 spots available,” said Nik Muhd Radzi.

The futsal carnival, organised by SportsUnite with the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) providing the facilities and logistics, has received encouraging response from sponsors.

The sponsors are AmBank Group, Milo, 100 Plus, Figos and UFL.

The carnival is unique in such that it will kick off at 9am on Aug 30. It will take a break to raise the Jalur Gemilang at midnight.

The finals are expected to be played at about 1.30am on Aug 31.

Six futsal courts will be set up on the hockey pitch.

There are four categories - boys Under-12, boys Under-18, men and women’s open.

The Under-12 and Under-18 categories will be played from 9am to 5pm on Aug 30 while the men’s and women’s Open will start at 5pm on Aug 30 and end on 1.30am on Aug 31.

The top four teams in each category will receive attractive prizes in the form of cash, medals and products from Milo, Figos and SportsUnite.
