New Straits TimesFutsal carnival to promote racial unityA TOTAL of 200 teams have to date signed up for this weekend’s Majlis Bandaraya Petaling Jaya Unity Merdeka Futsal Carnival 08 to be held at the hockey stadium in Petaling Jaya.
Entries are still open as the organisers hope to get a maximum 240 teams to compete in the two-day event which is being sponsored by Milo, SportsUnite, UFL, Ambank, 100 plus and Figos. The closing date is tomorrow.
Teams are encouraged to have players of different races in line with the Merdeka Day celebrations theme ’Perpaduan Teras Kejayaan’. The event will have four categories — boys’ under-12 and under-18 and women’s and men’s open.
Cash prizes totalling RM13,900 is up for grabs.

Entries are accepted on a first come first served basis.
