Guam Football Association Men’s Futsal League action has ended regular season play and will begin playoff action this Saturday with the top four teams jumping straight into the semi-finals.
The top four teams are the Strykers, Quality, Crushers Orange and the Yamasa Cobras.
Strykers vs. CobrasBeginning at 6 p.m. at the Guam Sports Complex in Dededo, the top team in the Strykers will go head-to-head with the fourth place Cobras.
The two teams met each other once in the regular season and the Strykers won by a slim 6-4 margin.
Both teams have a wealth of offensive power on their side. The Strykers’ Hiro Asoshina tallied a league second best 18 goals and his teammate Christian Dickson came in third with 15. However, Cobras’ Ashton Surber led the league with 22 and his teammate Jan Jason Flores came in fifth with 12.
The Strykers lead the league in goals scored with 55. They undoubtedly will look to flat-out outscore their opponents. As for the Cobras, their job will be to put up a defense capable of slowing the Stryker’s scoring, while opening up scoring opportunities of their own.
Quality vs. Crushers OrangeIn the second semi-finals matchup at 7 p.m., second place Quality will take on third place Crushers Orange.
Quality won their only meeting in the season by way of a Crushers no-show forfeit. Being the teams’ first meeting, it’s hard to say which team will be the one to beat, only that it’s likely to be a heck of a game.
Quality’s top player is David Manibusan, who came fourth in the league in goals scored with 14. Crushers’ Camden Aguon finished sixth with 10.
