Abahani overwhelm Sheikh Russel 6-1

Dhaka, Sept 5 (bdnews24.com) – Mamunul Islam struck a hat-trick as Abahani Limited brightened their chance of moving into the semifinals of the Citycell Futsal Tournament with an emphatic 6-1 win over Sheikh Russel KC at the Wooden Floor Gymnasium Friday.

Apart from Mamun's hat-trick, Sunny scored two goals and Siraji netted one goal for the Sky Blue outfit while Morshed scored the consolation goal for Sheikh Russel, who quit from the race after two consecutive defeats.

Rahmatganj MFS, who lost to Abahani Thursday, bounced back to beat Arambagh KS 4-2 to keep their hopes alive for the last fours.

Hanif Prodhan struck a hat-trick, Jahangir netted one for Rahmatganj while Turjo and Imrul scored one apiece for Arambagh.

Brothers Union moved into the last four winning the first match against Farashganj SC by 3-2 goals in Group B encounter. Motiur Munna struck two goals while Parvez scored one for the Gopibagh-based outfit while Swapan and Iman Babu netted one goal each for the losers.

Brothers Union's outcome also threw Mohammedan Sporting Club, who thrashed Farashganj Thursday, to the semifinals as Muktijoddha Sangsad pulled out of the tournament.
