FUTSAL SUMMER SIGNONS UNDERWAYSign ons for the summer season have started across Australia and New Zealand and everywhere numbers are looking good. In many areas we have closed the books and are looking for new centres to play in.

NATIONAL SCHOOL TITLES ON TARGETIn just a few short weeks teams and coaches will find out if all the training they have done in the past couple of months serves them well. Converging on Dandenong, Victoria will be teams from Western Australia,South Australia,Tasmania,North and South Island New Zealand , North Queensland , South Queensland, Northern NSW ,Sydney and of course Victoria city and country. to compete in Australania's premier schools futsal tournament.
The 15 court Dandenong Basketball stadium is the venue being used which is unique to futsal in that the whole competition is played under the one roof.
The tournament is played from Monday 29th September to Wednesday 1st October and the draw draw for the championships will be posted on www.vikingsfutsal.com website on 19th September.

AUSTRALIAN WOMENS TEAM OFF TO SPAINThe Womens National Futsal Team is preparing for the first Womens Futsal World Cup to take place in Reus Spain this year. The tournament will run from the 29th September to the 6th of October and Australia is in a group with Italy and Paraguay group,with the top two progressing to the quarter - final. The World Cup will be attended by 12 teams that qualified last month, Australia is going as the top team in Asia. The countries involved are: Argentina, Australia, Brasil, Colombia, Eslovakia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Paraguay, Czech Republic, Russia and Venezuela.

The team will have a camp from the 22nd to the 25th of September at Acacia Ridge (Brisbane). All are welcome to come and watch or say hello, with players available for photos and autographs after sessions (around 10.30am after the morning sessions or after the afternoon sessions around 4.30pm) .
Coach Gui Costa is happy with the progress of trainings and hopes the team will be ready for their 1st game on the 30th of September in Reus when they face Italy.
We have a good bunch of players that have been playing the game for a long time. It wont be an easy task playing against the powerhouse of Futsal in Europe, but I think that we can surprise a lot of people

FUTSAL IN THE OLYMPICS?Well we can only dream, however one Vikings Futsal player did represent Australia at the Beijing Olympics. Weightlifter Damon Kelly was at the Vikings Warehouse this week to pick up his new team strip and register for the Ennogerra competition. Damon finished a credible 9th in the heavyweights +105 kilo division and is already preparing for the next Olympics.The goos news for Ennogerra is we will now have someone who can put all the goals away by themself.

VIKINGS - QUEENSLAND ROAR PARTNERSHIPA League team Queensland Roar and Vikings Futsal have officially become partners in promotion of both futsal and football. With futsal's main season played the same time the A League runs, it was seen as a great opportunity by both parties to promote and market Roar and also outline ties to futsal.
Roary (Qld Roar's mascot) has been making appearances at sign ons in the Brisbane area and will do so during the season, and players of the week at all South East Queensland centres will receive free tickets to Roar games.
Dont forget that you can pick up membership forms for Qld Roar tickets at the same time.
VIKINGS STRIKE GOLD ON THE COASTAt last we have found a permanent venue for futsal at the northern end of the Gold Coast.
Hunt Park at Labrador has become available with 4 courts ready to run 5 nights a week.
Vikings Futsal's Gold Coast administrator Ian Bentall stated " We have been crying out for a specialised venue for our rapidily growing sport. Our friends at the Gold Coast Hockey Club have invited us to use a 4 court area within their club grounds and I can see this being an instant success."
We will be also setting up the headquarters of Gold Coast Futsal there with an office for two staff, a shop, four change rooms and a meeting room bar overlooking the courts.

WHERE: HUNT PARK HOCKEY CLUBHOUSE , HUNT PARK, MUSGRAVE AVENUE, LABRADOR.
The club will offer competitive futsal games for boys and girls 6 years and older, open men, open women and a mixed competition.
For junior development their will be a KINDY Futsal for 3,4 and 5 year olds.
We will also be starting an Atletico Mineiro futebol academy there for children 10 years to 14 years.

TOURS LEAVING THIS MONTHWe have a number of tours leaving this month.
First, the Doncaster Rovers under 16 girls form Melbourne are heading to Brazil to train at both the Grand Camary(home of CBF) and with the Atletico Mineiro women's team. While there they will also be playing games against country football teams as well as see the sights of Rio.
Second, our national womens team are heading to Spain to compete in the first Women's Futsal World Cup. On the way back some of them are stopping off in England to visit our sister club in the UK. Good luck girls !
Last, is the Mens World Cup tour ro Brazil where the Doncaster Rovers under 16 boys will also train at the Grand Camary and with Atletico Mineiro as well as futsal Serie A club Minas Tenis. The lucky players will also get to see the semifinal and final of the mens World Cup. Also on tour are a number of coaches going over to complete their International Futsal Coaching Course as well as work side by side with Minas Tenis coaches .
The Vikings World Cup tour departs October 3 and returns on 22nd October.

NEWS FROM VIKINGS CHINAGreat news from South China Vikings is that we have secured management rights to a 5 court stadium in Foshan, about 80 kilometres north of Hong Kong. The stadium is part of a brand new four star hotel and is perfect for holding a tournament where teams can live on site.
South China Vikings General Manager Li Pan is presently organising a tournament for next February for men and women where representative teams from Guangzhou, Macau, Hong Kong,Foshan and Chengdu will compete against Vikings teams from Australia and New Zealand.
We are also selecting a youth team to attend a tournament next year at the same venue.
In Chengdu Vikings manager Li Jing has already secured venues and has leagues running.
NATIONAL CLUB TITLESWith signons underway now is the time to start thinking about the National Club Titles this January.
The tournament will be in Sydney from Tuesday 13th January to Sunday 18th January with the schedule as follows.
Tuesday 13th to Thursday 15th State series 10 boys to open men , 11 girls to open women
Representaive Australian teams will be selected 13 years up, with a 16 year boys team and 16 year girls team being specifically chosen to attend a World Cup for those age groups being hled November 2009.
Tuesday 13th to Thursday 15th Vikings Pacific League between major states and guest nations for men and women
Friday 16th Finals of Vikings Pacific League
From the Vikings League a national mens and a national womens teams will be selected to attend the Confederations Cup in May 2009 in Russia.
Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th Club Team series for boys 10 years to over 30 men and girls 11 years to open women.
The champion open mens and womens teams in this compeition will be invited to attend the World Club Championships in November 2009( this year in Commodore Argentina).
We already have committment from three overseas teams plus New Zealand for Vikings Pacific League so should be a great competition.
