Contenders prepare for Futsal U21 draw

The draw for the first UEFA European Under-21 Futsal Tournament finals in St Petersburg will be made at the city's Hotel Park Inn Pribaltiskaya at 16.00 local time (14.00CET) on 17 September with eight teams in the running.

Seeds
Russia, as hosts, are seeded and in Group A, and will be joined by one of the other top-ranked teams from Pot 1 – Spain, Italy and Ukraine – with the two remaining sides going into Group B. Both pools contain two nations drawn from Pot 2; Slovenia, the Netherlands, Croatia and Kazakhstan. The tournament runs from 8-14 December with the top two from each group going into the semi-finals.

VIPs
Among those present at the draw will be UEFA Executive Committee member Dr Joseph Mifsud, Russian Football Union general secretary Alexei Sorokin, Viacheslav Chazov – the head of the St Petersburg Sport and Physical Culture Committee – and former FC Zenit St. Petersburg footballer and national-team futsal player Boris Chukhlov.
