THAILAND ON TOP IN THAI 5s

BANGKOK (6 Sept 2008) – Two goals each from Panuwat Janta and Anucha Munjarern propelled Thailand to the top of the Thai 5s following their 7-1 beating of Thai Son Nam (Vietnam) at the Nimibutr Stadium.

Panuwat blasted in goals in the 13th and 21st minute while Anucha added his in the 14th and 23rd minute as Thailand added further goals off Prasert Innui (26th), Nathapon Suttiroj (35th) and Suphawut Thueanklang (39th) for the win.

The only goal mustered by the club side from Vietnam is from Huyenh Ba Tuan a minute to the end.

In the meantime, Argentina currently occupy second spot in the standing after beating Japan 3-1 on the first day of competition on Thursday.

Amas Edgardo Martin scored the first goal for Argentine on 19th minute before Gimenez Uberti Marcelo then added two further goals after the break in the 33rd and 36th minute.

The Japanese nailed their only goal in the game from Yuki Kanayama in the 39th minute.

ARGENTINA IN FIRM CONTROL

BANGKOK (7 Sept 2008) – Argentina swept to the top of the Thailand 5s with a commanding 14-0 thrashing of Vietnamese club side Thai Son Nam at the Nimibutr Stadium.

The Argentines, the losing finalists at this year KL 5s, had beaten Japan 3-1 in the first game of the tournament.

And against Thai Son Nam, the South American side were in firm control as they romped to a 7-0 lead at the break.

Sanchez Carlos grabbed a hat-trick with goals in the first, 10th and 24th minute while Rescia Maximiliano (15th and 38th) and Corazza Sebastian Ariel (39th and 34th) nailed a brace each.

The other goal scorers apart from an own goal from Nguyen Dinh Hoang in the fifth minute were Amas Edgardo Martin (11th), Riente Mauro Damian (15th), Planas Leandro Miguel (17th), Elias Santiago Daniel (28th), Borruto Cristian Allejandro (31st) and Maina Lucas Emiliano (32nd).

In the meantime, hosts Thailand also picked up their second win with a close 3-2 victory over Japan.

The score at the half was 2-1 in favour of Thailand with goals off Ekapong Suratsawang in the second minute and Sermphan Khumthinkaew in the eighth minute as Japan pulled a goal back from Takaaki Ichihara in the 19th minute.

Sermphan was on target again eight minutes after the restart for a two-goal advantage although Japan did stage a late rally to score their second goal in the game off Kenta Fujii in the 39th minute.

THAILAND DENIED ON GOAL DIFFERENCE

BANGKOK (8 Sept 2008) – Thailand were denied the overall title in the Thailand 5s last night by Argentina who swept the crown on better goal difference at the Nimibutr Stadium.

The score at the end of an exhilarating encounter between hosts Thailand and Argentina was 2-2, which put both teams on the same seven points after three matches in the four-team tournament.

But with Argentina having thrashed Vietnamese club side Thai Son Nam 14-0 as against Thailand’s 7-1 win over the same outfit, it allowed the visitors to win the overall title.

It was Thailand, who dominated the exchange scoring twice in the first nine minutes of the game off Prasert Innui in the third minute and Lertchai Issarasuwipakorn in the ninth.

But that was to be Thailand’s only goals in the game as Argentina came fighting back with their first goal from Maina Lucas in the 19th minute and then the equaliser off Wilhelm Fernando just two minutes after the restart.

In the meantime, Japan completed the fixtures with their first win of the tournament when they blasted whipping boys Thai Son Nam 12-1.

Yusuke Komiyama started the ball rolling with the first goal in the very first minute of play before Japan added further goals off Rikaruda Higa (10th, 15th, 24th, 26th and 37th), Yuki Kanayama (26th and 31st), Kataro Inaba (6th), Takuya Sizumura (17th), Kenta Fujii (17th) and Wataru Kitahara (33th).

Thai Son Nam’s only goal in the game came off Huynh Ba Tuan in the 38th minute.
