Sports YASpain get Futsal agonic drawSpain managed to turn around a 3-0 in the first half to finally draw 3-3 against Iran in their Group D opener game at the Futsal World Cup.
Defender champion Spain couldn't have the debut they expected at the Futsal World Cup held in Brazil; they got an agonic 3-3 draw against Iran after being three goals down in the score.
Iran were stronger in every counterattack, which was their way to open the score at minute 4; a kick from Mohammad Taheri hitted Javi Rodriguez to beat keeper Luis Amado.
Spain kept running the show, but the Asian team fired another goal from a counterattack; as a result, they scored two more goals through Vahid Shamsaee and Hassanzadeh in less than 17 minutes.
The European team had some trouble to defeat Iran defense despite Torras fired the first goal for the champion holder; however, Borja got the inspiration and scored the second goal to give Spain a little hope to at least restore the equalizer.
Four minutes before the end of the game, Torras kicked a powerful shot to score the third one; it even seemed Spain would get a miraculous win when Kike missed a penalty with 20 seconds remaining.
On Friday, Spain will meet Libya in Rio de Janeiro, the same place where they got this hard-fought draw.
