Iran beat Uruguay at Futsal World Cup

TEHRAN, Oct. 7 (MNA)--Iran defeated Uruguay 4-2 at the Futsal World Cup in Rio de Janeiro on Tuesday.

It was Iran’s second straight win following an opening draw against Spain, giving it seven points and second place in Group D.

Mohammad Taheri put Iran ahead in the 3rd minute. Mostafa Tayyebi doubled the score six minutes later.

Mincho kept Uruguay alive in the 15th minute, scoring a goal from the penalty spot.

Captain Vahid Shamsaei scored one more for the Asian champion in the 21st minute and Mohammad Hashemzadeh netted the ball for the forth time.

Two minutes from the time, Jorge Rodriguez scored for Uruguay.

Iran is scheduled to play the Czech Republic on October 9 in Brasilia.

The competitions are played in Rio de Janeiro and Brasilia. The teams are divided into four groups of five, with the top two advancing to the next stage.
