Cuban News AgencyCuba Loses to Brazil in Futsal World Cup HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 8 (acn) The Cuban futsal squad said good-bye to the World Cup Brazil 2008 on Wednesday after being hammered by the host team and Group A favorite, 9-0.
On the last day for the preliminary, Brazilians Falcao, Wilde and Betao led the offensive against the Cubans by scoring two goals each, while Schumacher, Lenisio and Vinícius completed the 9 goals.
Brazil remains unbeaten with 12 points and a total of 49 goals in favor and only one against.
The Cuban team ended in the fourth place with one victory and three defeats with 16 goals in favor and 25 against. Thus, the final position of the Cubans will be drawn tomorrow when the results for the groups C and D are released.
In other match of group A, Russia crushed Japan 9-1 to reach the second position and pass along with Brazil to the quarter finals, with three wins and 1 defeat.
On group B, Paraguay defeated Italy 4-2 and Portugal won 3-2 over Thailand.
