 U.S. FUTSAL DEFENDER TAKES OVER AT HELM FOR THE BALTIMORE BLAST The Baltimore Blast of the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL), announced on Nov. 7, that defender Sean Bowers has been appointed as player/coach for the remainder of the 2002-03 season. The 34-year-old Bowers replaces Kevin Healey at helm as Healey will assume new responsibilites at Executive Vice President of Arena Ventures but continue to remain as the Blast's General Manager.
Bowers, who has been with the U.S. Futsal National Team since 1996, is ranked third in the U.S. Futsal all-time appearance list with 23. He has also scored five goals for the Americans.
The San Diego Calif. Native has been named "Defender of the Year" in MISL with the Blast last season (2001-02). He has also received the honors with the Detroit Rockers of the National Professional Soccer League (1993-95) and the Sacramento Knights of the Continental Indoor Soccer League (1993).
Bowers also spent four Major League Soccer seasons (1996-1999) with the Kansas City Wizards.
