Brazil Win FIFA Futsal World Cup 08

by S B (Columnist)

Brazil captain Vinicius hoisted the FIFA Futsal World Cup Trophy in front of a delirious 12 thousand plus crowd on October 19 2008, as the South Americans claimed the most prestigious trophy in the game for the fourth time.

Paulo de Oliveira's side were truly impressive throughout the tournament, dominating all comers at will from start to finish. The Brazilians won all seven of their first and second round matches with a spectacular goal difference of plus 54, with 58 goals scored and only four conceded. Falcao, the world`s number one, was incredible, as he and his teammates stomped their way to the final.

Arch-rivals and former holders Spain were the only match for the FIFA Futsal World Cup host champions. Spain put up a real fight against a Brazil without the services of their main player Falcao for most of the match. In the end a six-metre shoot-out would decide it in Brazil's favour, sending the crowd at the Maracanazinho in Rio de Janeiro into delirium.

Brazil now currently holds the FIFA Confederations Cup, The FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup and the FIFA Futsal World Cup. All that's needed is for Dunga to get on the ball and win the FIFA 2010 World Cup, for Brazil to have a clean sweep in every FIFA International event.

If there's a ball and a goal involved you can always count on the Canarinhos to excel.
