Futsal team looking for sponsors

FERNY GROVE: Ferny Grove State High School students have assembled an elite Futsal team to compete at the national championships in January.

The team, named the Benchwarmers, will compete in the under-15 category at the championships, which will be held in Sydney on January 17-18.

Clubs from as far away as Western Australia and New Zealand’s South Island will compete.

The team is co-coached by Lenny Tremble and Barry McErlean and plays in the Vikings Futsal under-15 and 16 competition.

“We are fundraising to cover the cost of travel and accommodation for the team in Sydney,” said team manager Judy Lister.

“If a northwest business or company is able to sponsor the team, you would be acknowledged with a logo on the boys’ shirts or a sponsorship banner.”

Futsal is an indoor five-a-side soccer game.

The team is Nick Lister, Hugo Linier, Corey Tremble, Blair Tremble, Jared Gradwell, Liam Cleary, Matt McLennan and Justin Yeo.
