Masters roll over Crushers

The dck Masters put on a scoring clinic against the Crushers Orange to claim the 9-1 victory in yesterday's GFA Bud Light Women's Futsal League action at the Guam sports complex gym.

With the Crushers only fielding five players, the top-ranked Masters were quick to attack, using every weapon in their arsenal. The pressure paid off as the Masters jumped to a 5-0 lead by the halftime break including a pair of goals from Yvonne San Nicolas.

In the second half, the offensive onslaught continued as Rhoda Bamba got on the board only 15 seconds in.

Down 6-0, the Crushers' Jonimonay Tedpahago and Brandi Potter attempted to stoke their offensive fire. Tag-teaming for much of the half, the pair pushed to outmaneuver the wily Masters defense. Masters' keeper Cara Canto, however, was there to deny any hopes of a comeback as she and her defensive line stifled the Crusher offense.

On the other end of the court, the Masters' Haldre Rogers and Kyung Quan used a quick passing game to get around the Crusher defense, racking up another three goals before the 15-minute mark to take the 9-0 lead.

With minutes left in the half, Tedpahago and Potter finally connected on a breakaway. The thundering kick was enough to knock Canto past the line.

Despite the seemingly insurmountable lead, the lone goal fired up the Crushers. Even so, the Masters remained unfazed and had no problem shutting down the Crushers for the rest of the game.

In other games:

Quality 4, Tigers 1: Paige Surber notched two goals to lead Quality in the win.

Crushers Black 3, Guahan.com 1: Kristen Thompson and Anjelica Perez combined for three to take the win. Tiffany Tallada scored the lone goal for Guahan.

Hyundai 9, Bombers 1: Arisa Recella scored a hat trick to lead Hyundai over the Bombers.
