College team are bronzed Aussies

INDOOR SOCCER: Mackay's Holy Spirit College finished third in the Under 14 Australasian national Futsal titles on the Gold Coast last weekend.

After winning the title of North Queensland school Futsal state champions in Townsville earlier in the year, the boys from Holy Spirit College competed in the Australasian titles.

The competition brings together the finest young talent of indoor soccer from across Australasia.

The HSC team began the competition through the rounds, winning two out of their four games beating Mercy College and Marsden State High School.

This placed them third and sent them through to the semi-finals.

The team lost in the semi-final to Harristown State High School from Toowoomba.

Despite the loss, the boys acquitted themselves well against all teams in the competition.

Holy Spirit's Patrick Vincent was named in the All Star team to tour at a later date.

The boys thanked the Parents and Friends Association at Holy Spirit College for their support of the team and assisting them to fund the cost of the trip to the Gold Coast.
