Tees Valley Futsal League looking for teams

The Tees Valley Futsal League, about to enter its fourth season, is looking for men’s senior teams for the 2009 season. The League was founded in 2006 and has been won by University of Teesside twice, and Middlesbrough once. There are already five teams confirmed for 2009 and the organisers are looking for a league of seven to twelve teams.

Futsal is a growing sport in England, in particular in the Teesside area with Middlesbrough Futsal Club competing in the national league and running junior sessions (commencing in January) in the community. Now is a great time to get involved with futsal, the official version of 5-a-side football and who knows, in 2010 you could be playing in the National FA Futsal League!

The rules are such that promotes a faster, more tactical game than the traditional five-a-side. Any player can go in the area, goals can be scored from anywhere, and the ball can even go above head height! The goals are 3m by 2m, meaning more spectacular goals can be scored and you won’t find players using the wall to play a pass off! You can find out more about the game on BoroFutsal.com.

The Tees Valley Futsal League would be your first step into learning more about futsal, including becoming a futsal coach. The league runs on a Saturday morning at the University of Teesside and costs only £15 per match. There will be a minimum of six matches and the top four teams will be invited to participate in the proposed North Riding Futsal League, which in turn progresses into the FA Futsal Cup last 16 tournament.
