Shahrdari wins Qazvin futsal title

QAZVIN: Shahrdari Kuhin beat Saeed Club 4-3 in the final as the Qazvin Football Association brought the curtain down on a successful provincial futsal tournament.

The victory was sweet revenge for Shahrdari, who were beaten 6-2 by Saeed in the opening match of the tournament.

Saeed and Shahrdari qualified for the semi-finals from Group One while Shahrvand and Hajipour emerged from Group Two.

Shahrvand finished third in the tournament after beating Hajipour 6-4.

The competition featured 11 teams from all regions of Qazvin, which is one of four provinces involved in the Vision Iran programme.

Iran has a world-class futsal team and the sport is hugely popular in Qazvin. The QFA is keen on staging more tournaments in order to give youngsters more opportunities to play.

Although futsal is currently not part of Vision Iran Project Qazvin, it is hoped that it can one day be incorporated into the overall development plan.
