Cork City Stars visit Futsal Pilot

A Futsal Primary Schools Pilot was held on Wednesday at Colaiste Stiofain Naofa, which was attended by Cork City manager Alan Mathews and players Neal Horgan, Denis Behan and Joe Gamble.

The Girls section began with teams representing St. Mary's on the Hill, Scoil Inse Ratha, Scoil Iosagain (Aghada) and Gaelscoil an Teaghlach Naofa taking part. The Boys from Holy Cross in Mahon, Scoil Barra in Beaumount, St. John Boys from Mayfield and Scoil Inse Ratha followed later in the day. All the players enjoyed the day and there was some super skills on display as they learned more about Futsal. There was a surprise in store for the participants when they were visited by City Manager Alan Mathews who spoke of the benefits of Futsal. He was joined by players Neal Horgan, Denis Behan and Joe Gamble who helped out to the delight of the young players. The Setanta Sports Cup was also present and proved extremely popular with all the schools.
